The most powerful narratives are rooted in lived experience. Looking in from the outside, and trying to tell other people’s stories is not the most effective— I believe in work that's grounded in justice, informed by history, and gives the narrative back to the people most impacted and most silenced.
I believe that transformation happens not when we avoid the wound, but when we let it become the source of the music. The reed had to be cut, hollowed out, and shaped before it could sing. The same is true for the stories that change the world.
I believe in holding space that's safe and inviting for people to bring their whole selves — their grief, their rage, their hope, their complexity; their stories. Rumi the poet writes about The Open Field, a field beyond wrongdoing and rightdoing. The place where real change becomes possible.
